General Council Information

The Troy City Council is composed of four City Councilors and the Mayor. Each member serves a four year term of office with the terms staggered.

The greatest responsibility of the City Council lies in its legislative activities enacting ordinances, establishing policy and levels of service, adopting the budget, setting service fees and appropriating money to fund the city’s programs and services. The Mayor presides at all Council meetings and is not a voting member of the Council.

When does the City Council Meet?

The City Council meets on the third Monday of each month. The meetings start at 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall Court Room. The City Council also holds work sessions which are posted. No action is taken at the work sessions.

How do I place an item on the Council Agenda?

The City Clerk has the responsibility of setting the Council Agenda. Agenda items normally require action by the Council. If you would like an item placed on the agenda, please contact the City Clerk. If you would simply like to inform the Council of an item, or voice a complaint, you are welcome to do so during the Public Comments portion of the meeting.
